Piráti zverejnili rip 4K Blu-ray filmu, prekonanie ochrany zatiaľ nepotvrdené

Približne mesiac po zverejnení prvého pirátskeho ripu filmového 4K Blu-ray média, The Smurfs 2, piráti zverejnili ďalší rip 4K Blu-ray filmu, konkrétne Patriots Day.

4K Blu-ray médiá s videom v rozlíšení až 3840 x 2160 začali vychádzať už približne pred rokom, doteraz z nich piráti ale nedokázali vytvárať pirátske verzie na stiahnutie v plnej digitálnej kvalite prítomnej priamo na médiu a získané dešifrovaním uložených dát.

Hoci na Internete sa objavovali pirátske verzie označené ako ripy získané zo 4K Blu-ray už aj pred zverejnením The Smurfs 2, v skutočnosti boli doteraz získané zrejme maximálne až zachytávaním videosignálu.

Po zverejnení The Smurfs 2 sa nezačali objavovať ďalšie ripy 4K Blu-ray a zatiaľ tak nebolo potvrdené, že prišlo k prekonaniu ochrany týchto médií. Rip disku The Smurfs 2 a podobne Patriots Day mohol byť získaný napríklad získaním súborov na disku od produkčných spoločností disponujúcich týmito dátami, získaním kľúčov použitých u týchto Blu-ray alebo pre iné individuálne okolnosti s týmito konkrétnymi titulmi.

V každom prípade 88 GB kópia 4K Blu-ray disku Patriots Day obsahuje podľa Heise.de všetky súbory z originálneho Blu-ray média.

U 4K Blu-ray je použitý nový systém ochrany AACS, Advanced Access Content System, 2.0.

Už aj prvá verzia AACS použitá v doterajších Blu-ray je sofistikovaným kryptografickým systémom ochrany obsahu na Blu-ray médiách. AACS sa nespolieha na utajenie spôsobu fungovania ale na kryptografiu a kľúče, jej špecifikácia je do značnej miery verejná.

U AACS sú prehrávače, hardvérové aj softvérové, vybavené kľúčmi umožňujúcimi následne pre dané médium odvodiť ďalšie kľúče a obsah odšifrovať. Vďaka využitiu algoritmu Subset Difference Tree umožňuje AACS veľmi efektívne a flexibilne zablokovať kompromitované kľúče zariadení.

Podľa dostupných informácií AACS ako systém ochrany doteraz nebol prelomený. Slabinou systému a spôsobom ako ho prekonať sa ale ukázali tzv. processing kľúče vypočítané pomocou kľúčov zariadení a ich zverejňovanie, pričom získavané sú prelamovaním softvérových prehrávačov. Hoci u Blu-ray médií sa po získavaní processing kľúčov pirátskou komunitou pomerne promptne nasadzovali nové kľúče, piráti stíhajú držať krok a mnoho rokov bežne zverejňujú kópie filmov a seriálov získané z Blu-ray.

V prípade AACS 2.0 zatiaľ zrejme nie sú k dispozícii detailné informácie o fungovaní tak transparentne ako u prvej verzie, podľa dostupných informácií ale je u implementácie tejto verzie u softvérových prehrávačov vyžadovaná bezpečná implementácia napríklad pomocou technológie Intel SGX, Software Guard Extensions. Tá zabraňuje získať prístup k pamäti procesu aj procesom s vyšším oprávnením.

Kvôli tomu prišla aj podpora 4K Blu-ray v softvérových prehrávačoch pomerne neskoro, keď podľa dostupných informácií prvý prehrávač oficiálne zvládajúci 4K Blu-ray, PowerDVD 17 Ultra, bol vydaný až v polovici tohto apríla.
