Tvorcovia populárnej linuxovej distribúcie Fedora dnes oznámili vydanie novej verzie tejto distribúcie Fedora 39.

V novej verzii tvorcovia neavizovujú žiadne veľké novinky, keď sa viaceré novinky nestihli dokončiť a nie sú prítomné v novej verzii.

Najväčšou novinkou je tak použitie novej verzie desktopového prostredia Gnome 45. Tvorcovia tiež avizujú oficiálne sprístupnenie obrazov verzie Fedora Cloud aj v Microsoft Azure popri Google Cloud a AWS. Okrem toho bolo samozrejme aktualizovaného na novšie verzie množstvo softvéru.

Dvomi väčšími novinkami, ktoré sa nakoniec v novej verzii neobjavili, mal byť upgrade manažéra balíčkov DNF na novú rýchlejšiu verziu a prepracované užívateľské rozhranie inštalátora Anaconda.

Distribúcia Fedora je populárna aj medzi niektorými pokročilými užívateľmi, podľa informácií z minulého roka ju používa napríklad aj Linus Torvalds. Distribúciu aktuálne začína používať aj projekt Asahi Linux pracujúci na podpore Linuxu na Apple počítačoch postavených na Apple procesoroch architektúry ARM.

Projekt sprístupňuje aj vlastnú linuxovú distribúciu, do ktorej zapracováva túto podporu. Doteraz bola distribúcia projektu postavená na ARM verzii distribúcie Arch Linux. Projekt s distribúciou ale nespolupracuje na zapracovávaní zmien do oficiálnej Arch Linux distribúcie a v auguste oznámil zmenu použitej distribúcie. Jeho oficiálnou distribúciou, v ktorej bude integrovať vyvíjanú podporu pre Apple ARM Macy, sa stáva distribúcia postavená na Fedore nesúca označenie Fedora Asahi Remix.

Na novú verziu Fedora 39 je možné upgradovať alebo ju sťahovať z getfedora.org.
